This policy explains what information VHM Academy ("we", "us") collects through this website, the VHM Academy mobile app, the VHM TV app and the instructor portal, and how we use and protect it. It is written to follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Information we collect
- Your account: mobile number (to sign in with an OTP), name, and optionally email and state (for GST invoices).
- Learner profiles: for each child or learner, a first name, class, medium, board, exam interest and chosen avatar. We do not ask for a child's date of birth, school or photo.
- Learning activity: lessons opened, time spent, video positions, quiz answers and scores, so you can continue where you left off and parents can see progress.
- Purchases: plans bought, coupons used, payment status and invoices. Payments are processed by Razorpay; we never see or store card, UPI PIN or bank details.
- Devices: TV and phone names, push notification tokens, IP address and basic logs needed to keep the service secure.
- Messages: what you send through the contact form, support tickets or WhatsApp.
- Website visits: to count how many different people visit the website and the VHM SPECIAL calendar, we set one first-party cookie (
vhm_vid, a random number, kept one year) and record the pages opened, the site you came from and the kind of device. Your IP address is kept only as a one-way code that cannot be turned back into the address. Page-by-page records are deleted after 13 months. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. - Continue with Google: if you choose it in the VHM SPECIAL video popup, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We use them to help you get started with the app and to count you once across your devices. Google's script loads only when you open that popup.
How we use it
- To sign you in, show the right courses and keep your place across devices.
- To show parents their children's progress and apply the TV time limits they set.
- To process payments, issue GST invoices and give access to what you bought.
- To send service messages: OTPs, payment confirmations, renewal reminders and replies to your questions. Marketing messages only if you have not opted out.
- To keep the service secure and improve our lessons.
Children
Child profiles are created by a parent or guardian, who gives consent for their child's learning data to be processed. A child's TV is signed in only by a parent from their phone. We do not show advertising to children, do not build advertising profiles and never sell personal information.
Sharing
We share information only with service providers that help us run VHM Academy (cloud hosting, video delivery, SMS, email, push notifications and payments), each bound to use it only for that purpose, or when the law requires it. Instructors see how their own lessons perform in total; they do not see learners' names or contact details.
Storage and security
Data is stored on secure servers in India or with providers that offer equivalent protection. Access inside VHM Academy is limited by role. We keep account data while your account is active and invoices for as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
- See and correct your details and your children's profiles in My account.
- Delete your account any time at vhmacademy.com/delete-account (no app needed — you confirm with a code sent to your mobile), or in the app under Account → Settings → Delete my account. Profiles, progress and sign-ins are removed; invoices are kept only as tax law requires, with the billing name as printed and without your mobile number or email.
- Withdraw consent, ask questions or complain by writing to us. If you are not satisfied, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
